I’ve only been to a MUSIC STORE twice in my life and both times it was to buy the cheapest thing they were selling: a Guitar Pick, or “plectrum” as we liked to call them in my short-lived teenage band.
I played bass even though I only knew two bass lines, something called “walking bass” and the hook. peaches by The Stranglers. I was terrible and did not improve in the two months of our existence.
Anyway, I digress. At first I thought the song might be related to instrumental classics like Green Onions either Tequilabut CAPO put an end to that assumption. Then after I got PICK I thought it might be music accessories, but luckily GUITAR and PIANO stopped because I couldn’t think of any more music accessories, well, until I managed to spot AMPLIFIER.

Strands is the NYT’s not-so-new word game, after Wordle and Connections. It is now a full member of the NYT Games group that has been running for a year and can be played on the NYT Games site on desktop or mobile.
