The 4TB Samsung 990 Pro is currently marked down to $800 (was $1,100) at Amazon, and the 1TB and 2TB capacities are also discounted right now. All are available with or without heat sinks. This SSD achieves sequential read speeds of up to 7450 MB/s and write speeds of up to 6900 MB/s.

Random read performance is up to 1.6 million IOPS and random write performance is up to 1.55 million IOPS. The drive uses Samsung V-NAND TLC flash memory, an internal controller, and 4GB of LPDDR4 DRAM cache. Having dedicated DRAM helps the controller manage data efficiently, particularly for demanding workloads.
The 4TB model has a five-year limited warranty, subject to a written endurance limit of 2,400TB total. That’s a great spec for a drive designed to handle large amounts of data.
Price context and historical value
Amazon normally sells the 990 Pro 4TB SSD for $1,099.99, but it’s currently available for $799.90, $300.09 cheaper than usual. However, that’s not the lowest price we’ve seen. In the 2023 Black Friday sales, it was priced at $249.99.
