Normally I would start by looking for related words with rare letters or double letter combinations, but in today’s game it was impossible to ignore SUNSCREEN in the top left corner.
From here I moved on to MOISTURIZING and then realized that with these two finds I had exhausted my knowledge of skincare products.
Fortunately, these two points opened the spangram and CLEANSER. I understood the last two words without a clue, but even though they were both only five letters long, it took me a stupidly long time to figure out SERUM and TONER.

Strands is the NYT’s not-so-new word game, after Wordle and Connections. It is now a full member of the NYT Games group that has been running for a year and can be played on the NYT Games site on desktop or mobile.
