The initial cost of Amaysim’s AU$30 NBN 25 plan is so cheap I had to think twice

As someone who lives and breathes internet deals, you can bet I was surprised to see Amaysim’s latest deals on a selection of their NBN plans. The Optus-owned Australian telco has often popped up on my radar with some stellar prices, but its latest discounts knock it out of the park.

I’ll talk about other offers later, but the highlight for me is their NBN 25 plan for just AU$30/m for the first six months. Not only is that by far the cheapest introductory cost of any NBN provider I oversee, it’s the cheapest introductory cost I can remember in recent times.

When the introductory period ends, the regular ongoing cost returns to AU$70/m, which remains competitive for the level and below the current average of AU$77. However, if you bundle an Amaysim SIM plan, you can save AU$10 while both services remain active, so your NBN bill will be AU$60/month rolling.

While the initial cost of AU$30 is incredibly low, I’d be remiss if I didn’t point out that you can technically pay less for the first year of service for both Flip (AU$48/m for 12 months) and Kogan Internet (AU$49.90/m for 12 months). However, if you are willing to switch providers after the first six months with Amaysim, you will be able to save some of the switching.

Other NBN offers from Amaysim

Now, let’s move on to the other NBN deals I promised earlier. If you have the infrastructure to support the faster NBN plans, you can also save AU$240 on Amaysim’s NBN 500 plan. At this point, the initial cost has plummeted to just AU$50/m. As with the NBN 25 plan, this is by far the cheapest upfront cost of any provider at this tier, and when combined with its ongoing cost of AU$90/m, puts it within striking distance of claiming the title of cheapest in the first year. Only Kogan Internet is cheaper, and only for AU$1.20!

Amaysim’s NBN 750 plan is also an attractive option, as it not only has the cheapest upfront cost of AU$60/m, but even when combined with its ongoing cost of AU$100/m after six months, it is the cheapest in the first year of service. However, note that typical nighttime speeds are only listed at 680Mbps. For comparison, Spintel claims top plan speeds and is only slightly more expensive for the first year: AU$69/m for the first 6 months, then AU$94.95/m ongoing.

As mentioned, you can save an extra AU$10 each month on an Amaysim NBN plan if you also sign up for a SIM plan. And remember, these NBN deals end on October 23, so if you’ve been considering switching your NBN plan, now is a great opportunity.
