What are the Galaxy T1? Samsung’s mysterious fitness headphones just leaked

Samsung is working on a secret pair of sports headphones. The latest FCC documents reveal some features and specifications of the unannounced Galaxy T1. Let’s dive in!

Galaxy T1 sports headphones pass FCC certification

The Galaxy T1 earbuds appeared in an FCC document and received US certification approval on November 4. The device’s model number is listed as SM-R545 and is codenamed T1, but more importantly, the FCC documents give us a look at Samsung’s next audio release.

The FCC documents cover the left and right earbuds separately, and have some pretty long and boring nomenclature: ZCASMR545L and ZCASMR545R.
This is the first appearance of this device on certified US soil, and while there aren’t many details in terms of specifications, we’re still learning some interesting things about the Galaxy T1 earbuds.

Galaxy T1 Headphones Specifications and Features

The FCC certification documents offer only some advice on the specifications and features of the device in question. From the recent list, we get tags “Cable T1” and “Project T1”, which confirm the name of the headphones.

Previous reports mentioned the name Earbud Fit Test, along with customizable touch controls.

There is a charging base with the designation EP-QR545 and the headphones ran firmware R545XXU0AZH1 during FCC testing. This already tells us that we are dealing with Bluetooth headphones and during testing, the prototype achieved 14.5 meters of wireless range in a laboratory environment.

We also know the battery and charging voltage: the Galaxy T1’s battery is rated at 3.85V and charges at 5V from the aforementioned charging base. Previous leaks suggested 63mAh batteries in each earbud and a 595mAh one inside the charging case.

Galaxy T1 design and appearance

The most interesting part of the FCC filing is actually an image of the device undergoing laboratory testing. Of course, the test device will most likely be very different from the production model, but we still have something to look at.

The headset is shown with a hook design that wraps around and behind the test dummy’s ear. This design reminds me of the Powerbeats Pro and Bose QuietComfort Ultra models.

This wraparound hook was also featured in previous reports and makes a lot of sense, as it’s one of the safest ways to keep your buds in place during intense workouts. The FCC documents also contain schematics of the charging case.

It looks elegant, but the drawing has no dimensions or depth, so we can’t tell how big it really is. It features a sort of flat design, but that’s all I can discern from the technical drawing.

Galaxy T1 headphones release date and price

The recent FCC certification approval points toward a launch window in the near future. The Galaxy T1 has already appeared in certification documents in China, South Korea and Indonesia, and the US addition hints that Samsung is targeting a multi-market launch.

Of course, this is all pure speculation at this point and we have no idea when these headphones will be released or how much they will cost.

One possible scenario is a debut in early 2027 alongside the next Galaxy S27 line. As for price, the recently announced open-ear Galaxy Buds On start at $229, so we should expect a similar price for the sport version.

Are you excited about the upcoming Samsung Galaxy T1 and think we need a dedicated fitness model from the Korean company?
