Micro Center now reportedly forces you to fill out a form and have photo ID to purchase an Nvidia RTX 5090 GPU, and while some people hate the idea, others are for it.

  • Those who buy an RTX 5090 at Micro Center will now have to fill out a declaration form
  • This includes the retailer scanning a government-issued photo ID.
  • Some approve of the policy because it is an anti-scalping measure, but others see it as a nuisance or useless measure.

If you’re buying an Nvidia RTX 5090, or a PC with the graphics card inside, in the US, you may need to fill out an official form to declare that you have no intention of exporting and reselling the GPU, or at least you will do so at Micro Center.

PC Gamer spotted the ‘advanced computing products purchaser declaration’ that a Redditor was forced to fill out and sign (including a scan of his driver’s license for identification) when purchasing a PowerSpec AI90 workstation with an RTX 5090.
