Logitech G just released an upgraded version of its ‘revolutionary’ 5-star gaming mouse – here’s what makes the Pro X3 Superstrike better than its predecessor

PC gaming accessory maker Logitech G has just launched the Pro X3 Superstrike, an upgraded version of the Pro X2 Superstrike that came out earlier this year.
We called the original model a “revolutionary” innovation in our 5-star review, praising its unique Haptic Inductive Trigger System (HITS) switches. Based on electromagnetic current, HITS allows you to customize everything from the exact actuation point of each click to how much resistance there is when you press down.
This is a big help in the esports space, where a short click speed can reduce click latency and potentially provide an advantage over your opponents.

The updates found with the Pro
It weighs the same 61g as the X2 model, but has been redesigned internally for more even weight distribution. This, the team behind the mouse tells me, is a direct result of feedback from esports professionals who complained that the original was too front-facing.
Under the hood, it is also powered by a new chipset, called NxLOGI. Energy efficiency was a major focus, with Logitech claiming that the X3 Superstrike can last over 135 hours on each charge, which is a massive 45-hour increase compared to the X2.
There’s also an improved sensor, supporting up to 48,000 DPI (compared to 44,000 DPI on the previous model). Other flagship specs, such as a wireless response rate of up to 8000Hz, remain unchanged, although there is now the option to achieve this when also using the wired mouse.
Interestingly, there are some new features on the software side: you can now choose a variety of professional presets in the compatible Logitech G Hub app, all inspired by the settings used by esports players like m0NESY or ShowMaker.
The result is a mouse that is clearly the better option when comparing the two, but this all has to do with a price increase in the US and UK. The X3 Superstrike retails for $199.99 / £169.99 / AU$299.95. That’s $20/£10 more than the X2 (although interestingly the Australian price remains the same).
A Logitech representative told me that the X2 Superstrike will remain on sale alongside the X3 Superstrike for a while as an alternative for those who want something a little cheaper.
